New Course
St Andrews Links
The New Course is a classic links layout with strong historical roots and is regarded by many as one of the best – and most underrated – courses in St Andrews. Designed by Old Tom Morris in 1895, it offers a fair and traditional links experience with clear demands on precision and strategic play.
Compared to the Old Course, the fairways are generally narrower and the bunkers less penal in design. However, the undulating terrain and demanding greens ensure that accurate ball placement and sound course management remain essential throughout the round. Playing to par 71 and measuring 5,817 metres from the standard tees, the course suits a wide range of golfers.
The New Course shares facilities with the other courses at St Andrews Links, including clubhouse and practice areas, and represents a natural choice for golfers seeking authentic St Andrews links of high quality, with less congestion than the Old Course.
